Circle of Presidents

Within the framework of the Presidency of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (CECC), entrusted to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania for the period 2024-2027, the preparatory meeting of the Circle of Presidents, one of the central decision-making bodies of this Conference, was held in Tirana on 28 February 2025.

Pursuant to the Statute of the Conference and in the exercise of its institutional mandate, the Circle of Presidents adopted a series of resolutions regarding the theme, dates and other organizational matters of the XXth Congress of the CECC, which will be held in Albania in 2027.

A particularly significant moment during the proceedings was the consideration of the application for membership submitted by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo. The application received the support of the majority member courts of the CECC, marking a historic achievement for this Court after fourteen years of sustained efforts towards integration into the network of European constitutional courts.

The preparatory meeting of the Cercle of Presidents bears particular significance for the effective functioning and ongoing activity of the Conference, as it establishes the organizational framework for the successful preparation of the XXth Congress. At the same time, it reflects the continued commitment of the Constitutional Court of Albania to contributing actively to the work of the Conference and to foster cooperation within the European constitutional justice community.
